4th of July Outfit Ideas

6/28/2019

As I've mentioned, I LOVE summer. Seriously the best season for me. I kind of wish I could live in Southern California (like 3 of my siblings - SO jealous), but that just isn't the case, so I'll just bask in the glow of the hot sun while I can!

4th of July is always so fun! I'm usually at my family's lake house in Massachusetts. I grew up going to this lake every summer with all of my cousins and it has so many memories. My parents bought a newer house on the same lake a few years ago and we're making more memories there! My kids absolutely love it and anytime I can be out on the water, I'm happy! Also - I get to get out on my paddleboard, which is one of my happy places for sure!

Here are some cute outfit options for the 4th!

I love this look!!  Patriotic, but not completely over the top.  I bought this skirt a while ago at a local boutique, (Echo - which I love!) but I'm linking some other fun options below.

Our 4th is usually SUPER casual. I mostly just wear my bathing suit all day! This year, I'm planning to wear my kimono as a coverup - which is so fun! Love the versatility of wearing a kimono with jeans and a tank or as a coverup.

I found this kimono that I've been eyeing as well and it would look really adorable with a navy or red suit!  I'd also love it with my navy and white striped bikini.  Kimonos are my favorite right now! And this one is under $20!
I love these pants!  I have them in multiple colors and these are perfect for the 4th.  Super affordable and cute!  Love it paired with a denim jacket too, although given the weather we've been having, I don't think I'll need it!

This dress is a great Amazon find!  Such a fun casual dress or coverup.  Also love the look tied at the bottom to switch it up a bit.

This suit is perfect for the 4th!  I love Boden suits - they are really well made and they come in long torso for us tall gals :)  The cut and pattern of this one is super flattering too!

This is one of my fave dresses this summer.  Super comfy and so adorable!  Also - it has pockets!!  Love it paired with these chunky red earrings.  For local friends - I got the earrings at Cream Boutique and the dress at La Mer Clothing & Goods!  Also linking below to buy online.

This top is really cute, but short!  I typically pair it with a cami underneath, but it also looks cute with high-waisted shorts.  Keep in mind you might show a little belly with this - not sure I can pull that off at 40 years old with 3 kids!!  But it's a really fun top.

I love throwing on a bright scarf to be festive!  This top is from another local boutique: Elizabeth Boutique.  Linking below to buy it online.

How fun are these earrings for the 4th!!??  I just heard about this great online boutique for earrings and I've already bought 3 different pairs and want to try more!!  Here's a link to these earrings and they're only $10!!: https://maesandco.com/collections/featured/products/american-flag-earrings-1

I also love these towels!  We have them up at the Lake and they are fun for the whole summer.
This is another great Amazon find.  There are  lot of different colors and patterns and it's under $20!!  I would definitely size-up in this one...

Hope you enjoy your 4th! Fingers crossed for good weather!!

Target Try-on Sesh: Summer dresses

6/7/2019

Stopped in at Target this week after work one day and tried on some fun summer dresses (plus a jumpsuit and a bathing suit!).  There are a lot of really cute patterns for summer - lots of florals, which I love!  Click the pictures below to shop.  As a reminder - I use affiliate links, which means a get a small commission whenever you buy anything.  Thanks for supporting me!  Happy shopping!

Leopard Print

Picture
Ok, so this one isn't technically a dress, but it's so cute!  I'd definitely size up, b/c the skirt runs a bit small, although it is supposed to sit a bit high up on your waist.  I also tried it on with a red halter which looks cute too - love a pop pf color with leopard print.

This tank is also really versatile.  Pretty flowy and would cute untucked or event with a pair of jean shorts!

Blue floral

I loved this one!  The pattern drew me in right away.  Love the bright blue and it's really flowy and comfy!  Perfect for a hot summer day.

Tropical!

Picture
I loved this tropical print - reminds me of being on vacation.  This is a really cute simple summer dress perfect for a summer date or a trip to a winery!  Would also work really well on vacation on a beach somewhere :)

Black Foral

This fabric is a little stiffer than I'd like and is definitely a bit dressed up.  It would be a really cute option for work.  You could even pair it with a cute blazer, or dress it down with a jean jacket.

Black & White Maxi

Picture
I love this one!  I'm always a huge fan of a maxi and this one is super comfy and adorable!  I love the black and white patchwork design too.  Also - the top is smocked, which I love!  It comes in a bunch of other colors too...I tried on another one below...

Lavender Floral Dress

This dress is SO fun!  It has built in bra cups, which is so nice - no need to wear a bra with this one.  I saw that there's a black version online and that looks adorable too.  I feel like this color washes me out a bit,  and would love to see what the black one looks like.  But overall - the shape of this is super flirty and fun and I love the floral pattern.

Jumpsuit

Picture
I'm not usually a fan of jumpsuits on me.  This one is cute, but a bit too low cut for me.  It has a pretty deep v-neck, but I think it would look adorable with a little bralette peeking through (like this one, which is one of my faves!).  This pic also doesn't really do it justice - it's really cute and flowy.  Keep in mind that it has a really low back too.  I think it would look really great on someone with a smaller chest!  But it's also great for tall girls too, b/c it's supposed to be cropped.  Definitely a good option for those of you that have been wanting to try a jumpsuit, but haven't done it yet!  Linking a couple of other cute ones without the deep v- neck below as well!

Blue & White Maxi

Here's another pattern of the black & white maxi above.  How cute it this!  I love the tie detail at the top and it's so effortless.  Perfect for a polished look on a hot day!  My friend Phoebe wore this last weekend and I fell in love with it!
Picture

Bathing suit

Picture
I saw this as I was walking by the swimsuit section and it totally caught my eye.  I absolutely love the color and the palm and floral print is adorable!  I love a deep v-neck in a bathing suit and this one is really comfortable and it has boning in the v-neck, so it stays put - which is important!  I also really like that it has the look of a halter, but the ease of straps!  Definitely a fun option for summer days at the beach/pool/lake!

A capsule wardrobe allows you to invest in some essential pieces that should last a long time. Here are my picks for this season (click on the images to buy - affiliate links used):
